Have a life despite HIV/AIDS

Uplift HIV affected, vulnerable households

The focus and approach remains the same as in the project Empowering households affected by poverty and HIV/AIDS: the focus is on children, young people and their families affected by HIV, who are to be supported through various measures such as HIV prevention, access to ART, life skills training and economic empowerment (WORTH).
What they have learned from the last project phase is that all relevant stakeholders must play their part in reducing HIV infections.
Therefore, in the next project phase, they are focusing more on involving relevant stakeholders in the municipalities and the district.

Main objectives of the project according to target groups:

Adolescent and youth aged 10 – 29 years both males and females:
1. To improve access to comprehensive HIV prevention services.
2. To reduce unwanted pregnancy among the adolescent and young women.
3. Increase resilience through life skills and personal goals

Children and adolescents living with HIV (ALHIV) aged between 5 – 19 years old:
1. Children and adolescent living with HIV are virally suppressed (have access to ARVs).
2. Children and adolescent living with HIV go to school (feeling mentally and physically healthy enough).

Caregivers of all vulnerable adolescent and youth:
1. To increase household resilience through improved parenting skills and income generation.

Relevant stakeholders:
1. To create a social safety network for children and adolescent living with HIV through involvement of the community leadership, churches, social workers, police, schools and relevant stakeholders.
